Humanitarian visas

Government sponsored families: We did continue to support families dealing with the impact of COVID, and we hoped that some families would start arriving. Little did we imagine at the beginning of 2022 that we would be supporting two new families from Syria through a very different program and the superb teamwork that has been carried out by the volunteer teams involved with both families. It has been exciting to see the young families settle in so well and to be able to liaise with the Community Refugee Support Program (CRSP) team. It is highly likely that we will be able to offer to support some more families later in the coming year and provide, again, a safe settlement for people struggling. Sanctuary sponsored families: There has been a steady trickle of people arriving on visas that were awarded before COVID, people that Sanctuary helped families to sponsor, but there has been a definite slowing of other arrivals.
